Wake Skate
November 22nd, 2008
You know what wake skating is? It’s skateboarding on water, birthed from wakeboarding; they took off the bindings and started trying skate tricks on slippery wakeboards. Now days you got a shorter thicker wood deck with grip tape on it and it’s the best. I wake skate as much as possible I am terrible but am starting to get a grip on my shoves. My buddy from Texas is a top pro and great guy when I watch him skate I cant believe the stuff he can pull off, he is like a really good skater on land but on water! Big spins kick flips you name it! The best part about wake skating is that you don’t have to own an eighty thousand dollar boat to do it, just a sea doo or fishing boat with a decent sized motor. Wakeboarding is pretty boring these days, the newest trick or advancement in the last few years was the ten eighty. Granted that’s a lot of handle passing and something that a wake wizard can only accomplish and totally impresses me, but the flips and tricks have kind of leveled off for the pros and isn’t as exciting as it used to be, that’s why wake skating is blowing up because people can feel like they are part of the advancement somehow.
