Please Realize Holding Positive Expectations Is a Good Idea for Dating
May 25th, 2009For one, I couldn’t characterize myself as pleasantly happy as an “independent” (aka: naturally single) person and not crack a smile. But, I’m not uncomfortable with the reality of life, either. I merely suggest it in this blog as an appetizing piece of info foreshadowing what I am prepared to reveal to you
This time last week I met for coffee with Corey, considering signing up for a dating service for Phoenix singles. As of this minute, I stand to my readers as a delightfully single member of the matchmaking service. Seriously, I am. Its very comfortable and full of nice people! If you know me at all, perhaps you’re thinkin’, “Stop blabbering and tell me about it already.”
So, I looked at this Great Expectations Dating site and felt encouraged. They’re for the serious singles who care enough to know dating should mean something.
‘Cause I’d never been too big on the ridiculous nightlife ritual my friends and my family have named “Dating.” I faced it all the time. Every night they nagg, “Are you two serious yet?” and “Oh I know just the guy for you!”
“Ugh, and double ugh.” I banter right back, without missing a beat. “There’s nothing to date!”
“Not true,” they say. “You haven’t dated in a year, you wouldn’t know!”
That’s just my best friend (on a good day) (hehe) Stacey McCarthy. She sets rational thought to my mind to put me back on course. Loved ones are always there for fresh advice. Can’t argue with that, and I joined.
Back to the theme of this post. As I picked from more than three hundred quality singles for my first Great Expectations date, I realized something true. For the longest time, I hadn’t entertained too many literal great expectations for dating and myself in the serendipitous winding course of being human. Being single isn’t so bad, only if you take the opportunity to meet new people. Having great expectations works terrifically for those who believe.
