Travel in Denmark

Denmark is a little nation on top of the European continent, covering just 43.000 square kilometers. Denmark has more than 8.000 km of coast as Denmark is made up of the Jutland Peninsula and the important islands of Funen and Sealand.

Travel in Denmark has always involved ferryboats in some way or other, but since 1998 it has been possible to cross the Great Belt by the Great Belt Fixed Link. The Fixed Link between Funen and Sealand comprises the Eastern Span, a 6,790 meter hanging bridge from Sealand to Sprogoe and an 6,600 meter long bridge between Sprogoe and Funen.

The Great Belt

The Great Belt Fixed Link is a 4 lane toll expressway and you can pay toll in several ways. You can pay by immediate payment or credit card and you can buy a digital unit called bropas which automatically registrates your passages and draws the cost from your credit card. Using a brobizz saves 5 % of the toll fee.

Crossing the Great Belt Fixed Link holds you entitled to discounts on more than 10,000 hotels, attractions and expositions throughout Denmark. Attractions such as Tivoli, Lego Land, Copenhagen Zoological Garden and other main attractions in Denmark provides up to 20 % price decrease on visitors presenting a price reciept from the Great Belt Fixed bridge.

Besides hotels like the Radisson hotel chain, several hundred inn’s and other sorts of accomodation provides 20 % rebate on your stay in Denmark.

Live reservation

If you are crossing the Great Belt for business, i.e. busses and camions, you can pay in advance via our online reservation scheme. Bus companies and cargo companies can make a business concord with the Great Belt Consortium and use the reservation system to have smoother crossing at the Toll Post.
