September 19th, 2009

Carp fishing is a very enjoyable activity since carp are really smart and often suspicious of anything put in front of them. However, with a bit of trickery, you can tempt carp and trick them into being hooked. What follows are just a few useful tips to help you when carp fishing:-

  • Bring fishmeal boilies in the summer and autumn seasons, and dabble with half-half mixtures or bird food types of bait during the winter and spring
  • For particile baits, add a lot of salt, particularly the cooked types like hemp, maize, tares, beans, partiblend seeds, maple peas and chick peas. Carp savour salty food. Approximately, mix one tablespoon of salt to 5 litres dry particles. These are also cost-effective and will save you money on baits!
  • In the winter when the water is cold, try throwing your fishing rigs a little more frequently, and pinpoint several areas in order to place a hook bait close to the carp. The colder water slows down the movements of carp therefore there’s a lesser opportunity for the carp to swim towards your hook. During summer time, you can position traps in possible patrolling areas and wait for the carp to find the bait.
  • Add high sources of vitamin C into your bait. Mix your method with orange juice as opposed to water from the lake. Also experiment with dipping fresh boilies in fruit juice so as to to create that well-defined flavour.
  • If you’re worried about overfeeding the swim, then try breadcrumb groundbait with merely the attractants added, but without all the particle baits included. This lures the carp without stuffing them.
  • Whenever possible, try not to stick round-shaped bait on the hook. Numerous lines feature rounded bait, you want to be different. Try to square the hook bait with scissors.
  • Lastly, make sure you have the right fishing gear with you. Research what you should bring online. You can find all kinds of things online, such as carp bite alarms - and ensure you enjoy the time you spend by the river!
